The Zurich Transport Network (ZVV), along with the adjacent fare networks A-Welle, Ostwind, Schwyz, and Zug, as well as the SBB, are combined into an integrated fare network for the greater Zurich living and economic area.
The Z-Pass provides tickets for travel between the Zurich Transport Network and a neighboring network (so-called corridors). The zone tariff applies, meaning passengers must purchase a ticket covering the required zones for their journey from point A to point B. Within the selected zones and the validity period of the ticket, passengers can travel freely by train, bus, tram, and even by boat within the ZVV (see "restrictions on the area of validity").
The ticket price is based on the number of selected zones. The two urban zones of Zurich (110) and Winterthur (120) each count as two zones.
