Travelling with a hearing impairment
Travelling by public transport can be a challenge for deaf and hard of hearing passengers. Passenger information displayed in vehicles and at public transport stops can help them travel more easily.
Planning
The simplest way to plan your journey is online. The online timetable and ZVV app for iPhone and android mobile devices take accessibility requirements into account when planning your journey. If necessary, you can also extend the transfer times there.
Online shop
You can buy ZVV tickets from the comfort of your home in our online ticket shop. Some ticket types can be printed out. You can also order ZVV tickets by calling ZVV Contact on 0848 988 988; tickets will be delivered to your address. You can use the ZVV app to download your ZVV ticket to your mobile phone. Of course, you can also buy a ticket at a ticket office or from a regional bus driver.
Audio amplifiers at the counter
Many station counters are equipped with induction loop amplifiers for the hard of hearing. For more details, please visit www.sbb.ch/handicap.
Help at hand: the ZVV app
When you're on the move, the ZVV app keeps you informed of any disruption to your route. ZVV Contact (tel. 0848 988 988) also has up-to-date information.
Check the departure boards
The main stations, tram and bus stops are equipped with dynamic departure boards. Information on journey progress and connections is displayed and announced in almost all vehicles.
Emergency call buttons
Many trains have emergency call buttons that can be used by people with speech or hearing impairments.
Procom SMS service
In the event of a disruption to train services, people with a hearing impairment can use an SMS service provided by Procom. For more information about the service, please click here (only available in German).
Use the front entrance
When boarding a tram or bus, use the front entrance. This allows the driver to see you more clearly, keep the doors open for longer and assist passengers as necessary.
