Important information about the shuttle transport service
Wheelchair-accessible replacement services (shuttles) are available from regional operators at stops that are not step-free and where it is not possible for staff to provide assistance. The online timetable shows which stops are served by the shuttle service.
In order to enable wheelchair users to use stops where independent entry/exit or ramp access is not possible, the ZVV has organised a shuttle service in cooperation with transport companies. From 2024 onwards, the road owners, i.e. the city, municipalities and canton, will also be responsible for the further conversion of bus stops to provide step-free access.
On request, the shuttle service will replace the part of a passenger's journey by public transport that is not step-free. Depending on the planned journey, the shuttle service will run from a non-step-free stop along a public transport route to the nearest major stop where passengers can change. This means that passengers in wheelchairs have to change vehicles as little as possible.
Prerequisites for using the shuttle service
The shuttle service is designed with wheelchair users in mind. A valid public transport ticket is required to use the shuttle service.
Before your journey
- The online timetable shows whether wheelchair users need the shuttle service for their connection*. To book the shuttle service, passengers must call the SBB Contact Centre Handicap at least two hours in advance and inform them of their travel plans.
- Connections departing between 1am and 6am must be arranged by 11pm the evening before. The earlier the journey is planned, the easier it is to organise.
- The Handicap Contact Centre will provide passengers with information on possible points of transfer to the shuttle and, if necessary, possible alternatives. It takes note of the passenger's entire public transport journey and the type of wheelchair they use, and provides the shuttle once the journey has been successfully arranged.
- The Handicap Contact Centre will send confirmation of the planned public transport journey once arrangements have been made. The passenger will receive information about the meeting point, time and route of the journey up to 30 minutes before the shuttle's scheduled departure time.

During the journey
A shuttle will collect passengers from the agreed meeting point for each stop. The wheelchair accessible vehicles are marked with a ZVV sign so that passengers can easily identify them as shuttles.
Passengers will be taken to the nearest public transport transfer point or to the destination stop, depending on what has been confirmed.
