Step-free access: S-Bahn
Almost all of Zurich's S-Bahn connections are accessible without steps. Find out more about the accessibility of the S-Bahn and its stations.
Planning
The easiest way to plan your journey is to use the ZVV online timetable or the ZVV app. You can limit your search to barrier-free connections. You can also extend the transfer times. Find more about these functions here.
Rolling Stock
Low-floor trains run on almost all of Zurich's S-Bahn lines. Please note that on some trains not all doors are barrier-free. More information is provided here. Not all trains on the S18 line are low-floor. There are no low-floor trains on lines S19, S21 (S20 instead of S21 from 15.12.24) and S23. You can find alternative, step-free connections in the connection search.
Stations
Most stations are step-free. At stations that are not step-free, you can change to an alternative service, get help from staff or request a shuttle. The network map (PDF, 529 KB) gives you an overview of which ZVV stations are accessible for people with reduced mobility and wheelchairs, and what alternatives are available.
Outpost stations
At a number of outpost stations in the ZVV area, staff can assist passengers in wheelchairs by prior arrangement. With the help of a mobile lift, you can access both high-floor and long-distance trains. The outpost stations are marked on the plan (PDF, 529 KB, German only) of the S-Bahn.
Reservations must be made in advance with the SBB Contact Centre Handicap:
