ZVV bonus market test ends on 30 June 2024

A new digital discount model for occasional travellers has been tested by ZVV since November 2023 in the form of the ZVV bonus. The market test will be completed by the end of June 2024. The information collected during the test will then be evaluated.

Anyone who has purchased a ticket in the ZVV app more than three days in a month in recent months has benefited from credit for further journeys in the following month as part of the market test for the ZVV bonus. All users of the ZVV app automatically received this bonus as soon as they signed in with their SwissPass login. The aim of this temporary offer is to test the impact of a consumption-based discount on passenger demand and purchasing behaviour for the first time. The information and insights collected will be evaluated following completion of the market test at the end of June 2024. ZVV tickets purchased before then will continue to contribute to the bonus as before. Passengers can then redeem their accumulated credit as usual until the end of July.

Scientific evaluation of the results

After completion of the market test, the anonymised sales data will be analysed in detail in cooperation with the Institute of Tourism and Mobility at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU). In addition, three waves of passenger surveys took place during the test period, which will also be taken into account. Results of the analyses are expected by the end of 2024.

The market test of the ZVV bonus is part of numerous trials and tests in the Swiss public transport industry aimed at further developing the fare system and adapting it to the changing needs of passengers. The results of the market test will therefore also be presented within the industry so they can serve as a basis for the further development of public transport fares outside ZVV.
