Step-free access S-Bahn

You can access almost all connections of the Zurich S-Bahn without steps. Here you can learn more about the accessibility of the S-Bahn and the stations.

Planning

The easiest way to plan your trip is to use the ZVV online timetable or the ZVV app. The connection query can be restricted to connections barrier-free connections. You can also extend the transfer times. You can find more about these functions here.

Rolling Stock

Low-floor trains run on almost all Zurich S-Bahn lines. Please note that on some trains not all doors have step-free access. More information is provided here. Not all trains on line S18 are low-floor. There are no low-floor vehicles on the lines S19, S21 (from the 15.12.24 the S20 instead of the S21) and S23. You can find alternative, step-free connections in the connection search.

Stations

Most stations are step-free. At stations that are not step-free, you can change to an alternative connection, get help from train staff or request a shuttle. In the network map (PDF, 529 KB) you will find an overview of the stations in the ZVV that are suitable for persons with reduced mobility and persons in wheelchairs and what alternatives are available.

Outpost stations

At some outpost stations in the ZVV territory staff will assist passengers in wheelchairs upon advance reservation. With the support of the mobile lift you can access high-floor trains and also long-distance trains. The outpost stations are marked on the plan (PDF, 529 KB) of the S-Bahn.

Early reservation at the SBB Contact Center Handicap is required:
